Getting started

First steps in the game

The town, the NPCs you'll use, your vault, repairs, dying and moving between maps.

Noria 180, 103Chaos Goblin

Towns are safe zones

Inside Lorencia, Noria and Devias (the towns) nobody can attack you and monsters can't get in. Outside town you can fight monsters and, from level 6, other players too (see PvP and PK).

The NPCs you'll use all the time

NPC What for
Potion Girl Amy HP and mana potions, antidotes and Town Portal
Hanzo the Blacksmith (Lorencia) Weapons, shields and Dark Knight orbs; repairs your gear
Pasi the Mage (Lorencia) Dark Wizard spell scrolls
Elf Lala (Noria) Arrows, orbs and Elf sets
Baz, Storage Guard The vault
Chaos Goblin (Noria 180, 103) The Chaos Machine

The full list with coordinates and what each one sells is in NPCs and shops.

The vault

Talk to Baz, the Storage Guard, to open your vault. It belongs to the account: all your characters see the same items. A free account has 2 vaults and a VIP one has 5; you switch between them inside the window. You can also store zen.

Gear, requirements and durability

  • Every item needs minimum stats (STR, AGI, ENE…) and sometimes a level. Requirements go up with the item level (+1, +2…). They're in the Items tables, exactly as the server calculates them.
  • Your gear wears out as you fight. Above half durability it works fully; below that it loses part of its stats, and at 0 it gives no stats at all. Repair it at the blacksmith.

If you die

  • You don't lose experience or items.
  • You lose zen: 1% of what you carry between levels 11 and 99, 2% between 100 and 199, and 3% from 201. If you have zen in your vault, you also lose that percentage of it.
  • You respawn in that map's town. If you die in Chaos Castle or Kalima, in Devias.

Moving between maps

  • On foot through each map's gates (they require a minimum level).
  • With the Move window (M key) or by typing /move <map>: it costs zen and requires a minimum level. Full list in Maps.
  • With a Town Portal to go back to town.

Experience

  • Each monster gives experience based on its level. If you're more than 10 levels above the monster, it gives less.
  • A single hit can level you up at most once: the extra experience is lost.
  • You earn more in a party (see Party). On weekends there's Happy Hour.
